Research Design
Workshop on "Research Design", 10-12 May 2010
The ASCN Programme held its first methodology workshop in Georgia on 10–12 May 2010. Taking into account the needs in research methodology expressed by various institutions in our assessment of research capacities (conducted in Georgia at the end of 2009), the first methodology training was dedicated to “Research Design”. It focused on basic issues of empirical research designs in the social sciences.
The workshop was held at Ilia State University in Tbilisi. Twenty-seven junior researchers in the social sciences from various Georgian institutions of higher education attended.
Trainers
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Daniel Bochsler and Dr. Stefanie Walter.
Daniel Bochsler holds a PhD. in political science from the University of Geneva. He is presently a post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for the Study of Imperfections in Democracies, Central European University, Budapest (Hungary).
Stefanie Walter holds a PhD. in political science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zürich). She is a Junior Professor for International and Comparative Political Economy in the Department of Political Science at the University of Heidelberg (Germany).
