Proposal Writing
Workshop Session on Proposal Writing, 12 May (2pm - 6.30pm)
In March 2010, ASCN announced a call for research proposals in the social sciences to be submitted by 7 June 2010. Consequently, ASCN held an information session for all potential applicants. The workshop took place at Ilia State University, 32 Chavchavadze Avenue. It was open to any scholar affiliated with an institution of higher education in Georgia and intending to submit a research proposal.

Part I: Proposal Writing , held 2pm – 5pm and conducted by Dr, Roger Pfister, Head of the Research Promotion Service at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland
Dr. Pfister went over the application form in detail, providing information and giving advice on the most important components, including presentation, budgeting and scientific issues to address. A question and answer period related to the application form followed.
Part II: Presentation of CRRC Databases on Georgia, held 5.30pm – 6.30pm and conducted by Dr. Hans Gutbrod, Caucasus Research Resource Centre
Dr. Gutbrod showed research teams how data (from CRRC and other sources) can be used to support applications and possible research projects.
On 13 May, researchers intending to submit a research proposal had the opportunity to discuss with Dr. Pfister their project ideas that they had submitted to him beforehand.
