Objectives

The ASCN programme aims to achieve the following general objectives:

  • support research projects in the social sciences and humanities that adhere to European standards on transformation-related topics
  • assist and encourage promising junior researchers
  • contribute to local capacity building in research methodology
  • foster regional and international networking among young researchers and institutions
  • enhance knowledge and understanding of Eastern Europe in Switzerland

In order to achieve these objectives, the following activities are being implemented:

  • research projects
  • capacity building trainings
  • grants programme
  • conferences and other public events
  • summer schools

Target groups:

  • a younger generation of researchers, teaching assistants, assistant professors and/or associate professors at public/private universities and independent research institutes
  • junior researchers that are either working toward their MA or PhD thesis. Bachelor degree candidates may also participate in cooperation with their professors.
The grants programme targets primarily MA and PhD candidates.
