Politische Kultur und Kultur der Politischen Eliten im östlichen Europa

On 10-13 November 2011, the Interfaculty Institute for Central and Eastern Europe of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and the Johann Gottfried Herder-Forschungsrat organized a conference at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. The title of the conference was: Political Culture and the Culture of the Political Elites in Eastern Europe. Researchers from a wide range of disciplines were invited by Prof. Dr. Klaus Roth (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität) and Prof. Dr. Nicolas Hayoz (University of Fribourg; director of the ASCN programme) to discuss the relationship between culture, elites and democracy in Eastern and Southeastern Europe.

An important part of the conference was dedicated to the political culture and elites in Russia and the South Caucasus. To gain understanding into this region's developments, researchers from Armenia and Georgia were invited to share their insights. The event was supported by ASCN, the Johann Gottfried Herder-Forschungsrat and the Regional Research Promotion Programme for the Western Balkans (RRPP).
